Pat's Posey Patch is a unique place because it combines greenhouses with personal gardens. You can stroll through our many types of gardens and then purchase identical plants from our stock. We not only offer typically found plants but also unusual annuals, perennials and herbs. We start many of our plants from seed which also allows our customers to save money. We offer baby perennials (first year plants) in four-inch pots for $1.25@. Gallon hostas and other shade perennials are $5.00@ or 3 for $12.00. All other perennials in gallon pots are $4.00@ or 3 for $10.00. Annuals, herbs and vegetable plants start at $.50 to $2.00@. We try lots of new varieties every year so our inventory changes constantly. We strive to grow healthy perennial plants that are guaranteed to return to your garden with proper care or we will replace them at no charge.

We are constantly changing our gardens and yard. Yes, we do have some lawn but it's disappearing fast. We have started using 2A road gravel the past five years to plant a lot of our flower gardens and shrubs/trees in. We have combined water features with gardens that encourage many different types of birds and butterflies to frequent our yard. This past fall we added five demonstration gardens which include a hummingbird/butterfly garden, kitchen herb garden, garden with short perennials, garden with medium height perennials and a garden with tall perennials. One of our most interesting gardens is the one with prickly pear cactus in it. Yes they do live in northern Michigan and do quite well. Like daylilies, the blossoms only last one day, are a shiny beautiful yellow and bloom usually the last week of June & first week of July only on sunny days. It's a sight to behold.

This winter a chicken coop was converted to a classroom. We will be offering not only gardening classes (Hypertufa, Gardening 101, Crazy about Containers, How to design and plan gardens with plants that survive in Northern Michigan and Propagating Plants) and a stamping class (Watercolor Flowers with Rubber Stamps) starting in May 2008. We would be happy to e-mail you a list of the classes and dates so you can sign up for those which interest you. We encourage groups to tour our gardens and/or take a class. Please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail for more information or questions. We also are available for speaking engagements. Happy gardening to all of you.
